We all have that inner voice that holds us back from being our best selves. But what if you could make peace that inner voice?
But fixing it is not as simple as just saying you’ll do it.
You need to be willing to listen to yourself and make changes.
Ask Yourself.
“Is there one thing in your life that you could fix that would make your life a bit better?”
Is that something that you can fix? And would you take take that first step?
Would you take the time to listen to yourself and address the issue that is humbly seeking your attention?
Picture yourself as someone you need to persuade. Be honest with yourself and know that you have tendencies to be lazy, resentful, and hard to get along with.
Tell Yourself.
“Is there anything that you’re willing to do?
I’m just trying to reduce our suffering here.
Ok, I know we haven’t been getting along in the past, I’m sorry about that.
I’m just trying to get better… and probably I’ll make more mistakes along the way, but I’ll try to listen to you if you object.
I’ll try to learn.
I’ve noticed that you’ve been trying to avoid responsibilities,
is there anything I could offer if you help?
Maybe if you wash the dishes we could go for coffee?
How about an espresso?
You like espresso—or is there something else that you want?”
Maybe you’ll hear a voice inside, your long-lost inner child saying…
“Really? You’ll do something for me?”
But you better be careful—that little voice,
that is a voice of someone once who’s shy and has been hurt before.
Say this carefully,
“I might not do it very well, and I may not be great, but I promise, I will do something nice for you.
So now… do those damn dishes and you better not do anything else after you finish and forget about the coffee.
So ask yourself.
“Is there one thing in your life that you could fix that would make your life a bit better?”
What habits do you need to let go of to improve yourself and your life?
What changes can you make to create a better present and future?
